I know it's ridiculous to be as disappointed as I am in Brian's end of year grades, becasue they're great, but you'll see what I mean:

    Bible memorization A- 92%
    Language A 97%
    Reading Comprehension A 96%
    ORal Reading O (Outstanding)
    Spelling A 98%
    Arithmetic B+ 88%
    History A 97%
    Science A 96%
    Health A+ 100%
    Penmanship O-

Here's where the frustration comes in. When he got his last report card he had a B- (82%) in Reading Comprehension and a B (84%) in Histrory. And an A- (82%) in Arithmetic, which was the third quarter in a row he got an A. He's never had ANYthing less than an A in arithmetic since 1st grade.

OK so when he brought home the report card last quarter I said to him "you know, if you work really hard you can bring those Bs up to As by the end of the year." He said "Really?" and was totally gung-ho about doing that. He worked his butt off, got great grades on his history and reading quizzes and tests, and sure enough, he brought them up! Quite alot, if you look! But what happens?? HE LETS HIS MATH GRADE DROP TO A B!!!!!!!!!!! UGH. It would have have been SO incredible for him to have had straight As.

    *deep breath*

I'm still SO proud of him, and he knows it. I'm only sharing my frustration here, in hopes of getting over it quickly. HE doesn't know it's making me crazy. BUT SDADJFFKAJSDFKJASDFKLAJSDFKJASDFLKJSDFKJDASLFKJASD.

    OK I'm done now.

Today was his last day at Son Shine Christian School. Next year he'll be going to public school, and although I think the curriculum will be easy for him, he's going to have many new challenges with "public school" kids.

    Brian
Brian received his report card on Friday, for the third quarter.
Bible: (this is verse memorization, he's tested on a new verse every week) A 96%
    Language: A 97%
    Reading Comprehension: B- 82%
    Oral Reading: O (Outstanding)
    Spelling: A- 90%
    Arithmetic: A- 92%
    History: B 84%
    Science A- 90%
    Penmanship: S+
    Art: O
    Music: O
    Phys. Ed: O

He went down a bit in Spelling (from an A to an A-), up in History, Science and Penmanship, and stayed the same in all other subjects.
I'm not going to put all the other stuff about self-control and being courteous and respectufl. He did great, O's and S+es, but it's too much to type out. :)

There was more I wanted to type, but it's gonna have to wait cause Moosey here needs to eat (again).

Just got back from taking Dexie to the doctor's for his 4 month appt (he was 4 months yesterday!). He weighs 24 lbs, and is 27.5 inches long. The doctor said that he should be around 20 lbs for his length and height to be in line, so he is in fact heavy. Dar. :P

She wants us to start feeding him cereal now, to get him used to eating solids, then start giving him yellow vegetables in a couple of weeks. Since breastmilk is so high in fat and calories she wants to replace some food with more nutrients and less fat and calories. Dang. Babyhood is over so fast.

She also said that developmentally, he seems to be about a month behind. I think she's right. He's at about the same stage that the other little baby we are always with (my workout partner's son), and he's exactly one month younger. I'm not worried at all, Sadie was behind at this age too, but caught up at around 6 months, became a little ahead at a year, and now is about level with most 3 and a half year olds. He's so big, it's difficult for him to hold his huge head up for long lengths of time, and impossible for him to roll the bulk of him over yet. Anyway, she thinks he'll probably catch up in a month, but said she really wants to be seeing some improvement by his sixth month checkup.

She also mentioned the opthamologist to us again. We were supposed to take him last month, but the doctor got sick so they cancelled us and we never made another appointment. She says his right eye has a slight case of ptosis, and that she wants to have a "baseline checkup" to see if anything needs to be done for it at this time, or if he wants to have us come back at a later time to check it.
You can see it really well in this picture:

But then in this picture you can barely see it at all:

So! Lots of issues with Baby Dex.

Brian is at Science Camp for the next four days, so I have a break from the driving to drip off and pick him up from school. It will be nice to be able to get some momentum going in my day...it's really tough to do that when I have to take 45 minutes out of the morning, and right smack into the middle of the afternoon.

He was so excited to go, I'm sure he'll have a blast. The best part is that his dad went with him. They've really needed to do something like this together, I hope John isn't too hard on him while they're there, and that he can just allow Brian to be himself and have a good time.

That's it for the boys for now. Oh except for that I forgot to mention that Dex got 4 shots today (poor baby!) so he's sleeping now.

    Heavy, baby.
Took Dex to the docs yesterday to finish his two month shots. Glad that's over, but we get to go back and do it again next month. :(

He weighs almost 21 pounds!! 20lbs 14oz. Unbelievable. Sadie was a big baby too, and I remember that she weighed 30lbs at 12 months. The way he's going he's going to be 40 pounds by then! The thing is, he's not fat. Not yet anyway. He's really just BIG. Solid. He does have some chub rolls on his thighs, but he's not roly poly. He'll get there though, I'm sure of it, just like Sadie did.

Anyway, just wanted to throw that up real quick. I'm picking up Brian from school today and I think I'm going to take him to the park right afterward and let him do his homework a little bit later.

Starting this journal so that I can keep track of my son's adventures accomplishments and development. I haven't been very good at keeping up my daughters, so we'll see how it goes. :)

My son Brian is 10, soon to be 11. His birthday is April 27th, 1991. He gets mostly As and a few Bs in school. He has ADHD, and takes Ritalin at 8am and 12pm during the week, just to help him concentrate at school. Actually, he hasn't been taking his afternoon dose for the past few weeks, cause we're trying to "wean" him off this year so that he doesn't have to take it in the afternoon when he goes to public school next year (6th grade). HE's been going to a private Christian school since he was in 1st grade, not becasue his dad or myself are particularly religious, but because the school is very small and he's able to get more individualized attention because of smaller class sizes. IT's been very good for him. I'm concerned about next year, how he'll be treated, but his dad and me and his step-dad, my husband, are all here to support and help him over all the humps and bumps that he might encounter.

My son, Dexter, is 3 months old tomorrow. His birthday was December 14th, 2001. He was 10 obs 6.5 oz at birth, and just keeps growing. Currently he's just over 18 lbs. He's developing nicely, smiling, and just beginning to laugh. He grasps at things he wants and is able to keep his head up for about 10-15 seconds at a time. We're going to the doctor for shots today at 2:45, not looking forward to that. :(

I suppose that's it for now. Hopefully I'll remember to update again soon. :)
